XL Sustainable Beeswax Food Wrap

£7.50

The extra large beeswax wrap provides a great cover for large serving platters, covering large baking trays, casserole dishes and is wonderful for wrapping larger produce such as celery stalks or large loaves of bread.

Handmade in Australia, ethically sourced and cruelty free these wraps will encourage you to cut down the single-use plastic used in the kitchen.

Our XL Sustainable Beeswax Food Wrap provides you with a gorgeous, natural, healthy and sustainable alternative to using plastic cling-film to store your food and produce. Created using certified organic cotton, pure beeswax and organic jojoba butter, it is perfect for wrapping the slightly larger items that you have in your kitchen to help extend the life of your food and reduce your plastic use. They make your kitchen, fridge and picnics look beautiful while taking good care of your food and the environment.

Perfect for…
Wrapping cheese, bread, herbs, fresh pasta, half an avocado, salads, sandwiches, snacks, vegetables, hams and most other produce. The wraps also stick well to glass, metal and ceramics meaning you can reduce cling film when you cover bowls of left overs, plates or dishes. Furthermore, the beeswax food wraps not only allow your goods to breath which helps prevent sweating and oxidising but the natural anti-bacterial qualities also help your food to last longer. The extra large beeswax wrap provides a great cover for large serving platters, covering baking trays, casserole dishes or speciality bread.

How do they ‘stick’

Simple to use, the warmth of your hands moulds the wraps to cover a bowl, a jar or simply fold over and stick to itself if wrapping a wheel of cheese, a bunch of herbs or a loaf of sourdough. It is ultimately the combination of beeswax and tree resin that means they stick so well. Once the beeswax softens the wraps will stick to themselves with a little pressure. The resin then adds another level of stickiness or tackiness so acts like a gentle glue, that will then come apart again with a little tug at room temperature, ready to be used again.

They are great in the fridge and can also be used at room temperature. However, when used in the fridge the beeswax will cool down becoming stiffer and will therefore firmly hold their shape. If you have covered a small bowl in the fridge and then want to use it on a sandwich for work, you simple pull it off, move it around in your hands, warm it back up and then wrap the sandwich. Obviously made from wax, the wraps are temperature sensitive and means you can’t microwave them. We also do not recommend freezing them.

How to care

Our XL Sustainable Beeswax Food Wrap is washable, reusable and will last up to 12 months being used on an average a few times a week. Simply wash in cool water with a small amount of gentle soap, dry and store until your next use. When you are finished with using your wraps simply drop them in the compost, they are completely biodegradable, zero waste and environmentally friendly.
